The Predator line of football boot currently has 11 different variations. Every shoe in the line varies slightly in their design, but each one employs the Predator technology that has made the shoe famous. If you were to take a visual survey of the players that wear an Adidas shoe on the field, you would find that the largest percentage of shoe worn today is from the Predator line.

One of the main reasons they choose the Predator is the shoe is a solid performer. This is because of the technology that has gone into making the shoe all these years. Different models use various methods but all Predators have the trademark rubber stripes along the top. It is said that these stripes provide more friction when the ball contacts the shoe. This will improve the players accuracy, an important factor in football.

Adidas also incorporates what they call “power spine” technology in the Predators line of shoes. They claim that this too provides more power to a players kick because it reduces the amount that a players foot will bend back during a kick. All of these features are important to football players because they will look for any edge they can gain over the competition.

The Top Five Kansas City Chiefs Coaches

January 20, 2011

Comments Off

The Kansas City Chiefs have had a good 2010/2011 run, but now that Super Bowl dreams are derailed, its time to take a look at the top five coaches of the past that have helped make this team great. First is Marv Levy, who has been coach of the Buffalo Bills for quite some time, but actually began his head coaching career as that of the Kansas City Chiefs. He stayed with the Chiefs for five years, beginning in 1978. In that time, the team improved steadily each year and his team was victorious in one winning season. Moreover, in those five years, the Chiefs won 31 games. His coaching style was full of grit and his attitude was all business, all of the time.

Another Chiefs coach to remember is John Mackovic. A product of Wake Forest, Mackovic is most remembered for his college football coaching accomplishment. Beginning in 1983, he coached the Chiefs for four seasons. He appointed himself the team’s offensive coordinator and remained so all four years he was with the team. His head coach winnings with the Chiefs tallied in at 30 to 34 overall. As head coach of the Chiefs, during his last season with them, he lead the team to the playoffs which was their first appearance in the playoffs in 15 years. His .469 winning percentage during his head coaching time with the team was memorable.

Dick Vermeil is another coach who is remembered for his achievements in coaching other teams. He acted as head coach for the Chiefs from 2001-2005. While coaching Kansas City, Vermeil instituted some of the greatest teams of offense for Kansas City. Along with this, his overall record of wins before leaving the Chiefs was 44 to 36. In 2003, Vermeil brought his team to a glorious division title.

The Chiefs’ coach who has the second longest tenure was Marty Schottenheimer. He is known for reinstating Arrowhead Stadium pride during the 1990s, which he did by bringing back success to the Chiefs team. Marty Schottenheimer was involved in the draft pick of Derrick Thomas who became one of the best all-time linebackers. Schottenheimer holds the record for the head coach during the Chiefs’ all-time winning percentage at an outstanding .635.

For numerous reasons, Hank Stram tops the all-time best list of coaches for the Kansas City Chiefs. Being the only Chiefs coach in history who lead the team in a Super Bowl title against the Green Bay Packers remains only one of the reasons why Stram is remembered so well. Hall of Fame players Emmitt Thomas, Len Dawson, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan, and Bobby Bell were produced by Hank Stram, which also accounts for Stram’s reputation as best coach of all time for the Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs team would be tremendously lucky to find a coach of this caliber a second time.

Top Notch Athletic Efficiency With Truth About Quickness

December 28, 2010

The Truth About Quickness Insider’s System is the brain child of two speed training consultants: Alex Maroko and Kelly Baggett.

Alex is a younger instructor who is also creator of the Effective Ball Handling Program. Kelly is somewhat of a legend within the sports coaching community, also, his most well-known masterpiece is the Vertical Jump Bible.

Kelly is extremely educated and experienced in relation to speed training, however he’s not that good at communicating his thoughts. Alex makes up for his deficiency of expertise with excellent communication skills. Together, they provide an awesome coaching program.

I am not saying that Kelly cannot communicate or that Alex doesn’t know speed training. In actual fact, they each do that better than ninety nine percent of the trainers out there. What I am saying is that what one is missing, the other one makes up, and then some.

The Truth About Quickness program is really simple to understand and easy to follow. It also helps that the workouts are actually short, and you’ll literally finish every workout in about 10 minutes. You additionally get videos of all the workout routines so you know exactly the way to perform them, and the charts allow you to maintain track of your workouts.

The only liability that I might uncover with the program was that the video quality appeared low. It was shot in a rugged gym, which looks like it has been used by lots of athletes. Nonetheless, simply because the movies were not taken in High quality does not do anything to lessen from the fact that the Truth About Quickness is a superb speed coaching course.

Listed here are three of my favorite basketball training workout routines for blazing on-court speed:

1. Low, On-Off Box Jumps

To do this exercise, find a low step or box about 2-6 inches in height. Then, stand before the box, and jump on and then off the box as easily and rapidly as possible. Do that for 2-4 sets of 10 repetitions (hopping on top of the box and then off of it is counted as one rep).

2. Lateral Line Hops

To do this training, draw a straight line on the ground or apply a piece of adhesive tape. Next, stand at one side of the line and jump horizontally forwards and backwards across the line. Do the hops as quickly as you can. If you’d like extra bounce in your movement, jump a bit higher above the line and concentrate more on rhythm and smoothness than just speed. Do that for 2-3 sets of 20 repetitions (1 jump over the line is counted as one rep).

3. Pogo Jumps

To accomplish this exercise, you need to leap as high as you possibly can, however focus on getting all your jumps out of your plantar flexors (ankles). To do that, maintain your knees and hips almost locked, and just use your ankles to propel yourself into the air. Really concentrate on bouncing off the ground, and decrease your ground contact time. Do this for 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps.

Time to truly optimize your training sessions by finding out how exactly to perform speed training using Truth About Quickness Scams. Famous for their speed training methodology, the authors behind it have wide respect both for their training as well as their amazing prowess in sports! Truth About Quickness Review

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

November 11, 2010

Comments Off

The offensively struggling Kansas City Chiefs have finally found a way to win-play a team with a more stagnant offense than their own. The Chiefs gave Todd Haley his first win as a NFL head coach on Sunday with a—6 win over the Washington Redskins. Kansas City is now 1-5 on the NFL season, while the Redskins slumped to 2-4.

To successfully bet on NFL football you occasionally have to put aside W/L records and look at the underlying statistics. Those who did that found reason to take Kansas City as +6′ road underdogs and were rewarded with the outright victory. Kansas City is now 2-4 against the NFL pointspread and has covered two straight while Washington is a dismal 1-5 versus the money. The 20 combined points went well UNDER the posted total of 36′. The Redskins have gone UNDER in five of their six games this season, while Kansas City has curiously posted a NFL totals mark of 3-2-1 to the OVER despite not scoring more than 24 points in a game all season.

After the contest, Haley sounded more relieved than excited about finally putting a “W” on the board:

“We made it pretty difficult, right down to the end. We’ve pushed through a very difficult period. We needed to get some positive reinforcement with a win.”

Kansas City QB Matt Cassel also won for the first time since coming over from New England in the off season. His postgame comments were more upbeat:

“There’s been a lot of change, but this has definitely been special. We rose to the occasion. We made some big plays. We put ourselves in a position to score points.”

Embattled Redskins’ coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his offensive play calling duties by team management after the contest. In one of his last decisions in that role, he pulled starter Jason Campbell at halftime and went with Todd Collins. He explained his move as follows:

“I felt the need to create a spark on our football team offensively and went with Todd. I think the guys responded well. We kept our spark, at times, and then we refizzled.”

The Redskins have managed to win only two of their first six games despite being the only team in NFL history to play their first six games of the season against winless opponents. They’ll get another chance to silence their doubters next Monday night as they host the Philadelphia Eagles. They’ll have a bye the next week and return to action on November 8th against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Kansas City will try to string together back to back wins as they host the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Stampeders Top Blue Bombers In CFL Action

November 4, 2010

The Calgary Stampeders used a solid all around game from running back Joffrey Reynolds to beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31-23 at McMahon Stadium in weekend CFL action. The victory evened the Stamps record at 3-3 on the season. The Blue Bombers dropped to 2-4 with the setback. Winnipeg will need to dramatically improve on that lackluster record if they’re to have any hope of advancing to the Canadian Football League postseason.

Reynolds ran for one touchdown and caught another to pace the Stampeders offensive attack. After the game, he received praise from veteran CFL QB Henry Burris:

“Joffrey, he’s been an animal. He’s a proven professional. To me, he’s the best running back in the league and he shows it game in and game out.”

Burris had a solid game himself, completing 22-of 38 passes for 356 yards, two touchdowns against one interception. Reynolds displayed impressive humility as he accepted Burris compliment with the sort of grace too often absent from modern athletes:

“Any time that you can be mentioned with great players in this franchise and in this league, you’ve got to be happy about that. I’m just trying to play good football and just help us win games.”

Winnipeg running back Fred Reid rushed for a pair of touchdowns, but insisted that his team needs to compete for 60 minutes if they want to win games in the CFL:

“We have to play four quarters. The slow start hurt us. We played hard and came back in the second half. I wish we could have pulled it out. We have to keep fighting.”

Calgary safety Wes Lysack praised the competitive fire of the Blue Bombers:

“Give credit to them. They gave us a heck of a fight, but we found a way to get a win. Wins are hard to come by in the CFL.”

Winnipeg will return home on Saturday to face the CFLs best team, the Montreal Alouettes. The Stampeders travel to Edmonton for a Thursday night game against the Eskimos.

New England Tops Philadelphia As Tom Brady Returns

October 30, 2010

Comments Off

Tom Brady returned to NFL action and looked good in limited playing time as the New England Patriots opened their preseason schedule with a 27-25 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Brady played into the second quarter, moving well and showing no lingering effects of his knee surgery.

The Patriots also rewarded their NFL preseason financial backers by winning outright as a +2 road underdog. The combined 52 points scored shattered the posted total of 32 for an easy OVER. With the Pats and Eagles putting 27 points on the board in the first half, the total had almost been surpassed by the halftime break.

Bradys solid play was no doubt a heartening sight to Patriots fans, though the superstar QB had little to say after the game on the specifics on his performance:

“I need the work, we all need the work. You can’t duplicate this on the practice field.”

Instead, Brady focused on the less tangible aspects of life in the NFL:

“There’s no place I’d rather be. This is the place where I probably have the most fun and enjoy it the most. Preseason game doesn’t have quite the feel of a regular-season game, but to be out there on the field with my teammates and celebrate after a win, and the bus ride home … those are the things you probably enjoy the most.”

Tight end Chris Baker was more effusive in discussing Bradys comeback effort:

“I thought he was sharp. He went out there and moved us up and down the field and put some points on the board.

New England took a 21-6 lead into the locker room at halftime, but would have to hold on for the victory after Philadelphia responded with a 16 point third quarter. The third period onslaught allowed the Eagles to hold a significant edge in most offensive categories including total yardage and time of possession.

Brady, the two time Superbowl MVP, sat out the entire 2008 preseason with an undisclosed foot ailment. Hes expected to get a significant amount of playing time in exhibition games this year, however, as he tries to regain his regular season form after missing the entire 2008 regular season due to a knee injury.

The Patriots will open the regular season on Monday, September 14 as they host the Buffalo Bills. Philadelphia will begin their regular season campaign on the road in Charlotte, NC against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 13.

Liverpool FC Sell To Red Sox

October 29, 2010

Comments Off

The 300 million sale of Liverpool Football Club was finally completed this week as New England Sports Ventures (NESV) replaced former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette. NESV’s other ventures include Boston’s highly successful basketball team the Red Sox. All acquisition debts have been written off, significantly reducing the clubs debts from a total of 30 million a year to just 3 million.

The Royal Bank of Scotland had power over the club after Hicks and Gillette took out loans in 2007 to purchase the club. The future of Liverpool was cast into doubt as debts had to be repaid by 15 October. Despite the perilous situation before them the owners continually turned down bids that did not match their expected 800 million price tag.

They even placed a restraining order on the sale of the club after NESV’s attempts to purchase the club from RBS earlier in the year. It became clear to all involved that Gillette and Hicks were first and foremost concerned with their own finances rather than the long-term future of the club, and disagreements with members of the board began to arise. As the pair will only receive a small sum from the sale of the club, they have now taken it upon themselves to launch a $1.6 billion claim for compensation from the bank.

The new owner, John W. Henry, said that his primary focus was on “returning the Club to greatness on and off the field for the long-term”. NESV will examine a redevelopment of Liverpool FC’s current ground Anfield alongside proposals to move to a brand new stadium. Henry confirmed reassured Liverpool supporters that the new owners are “committed first and foremost to winning”.

However, Liverpool’s performance showed no signs of improving on Sunday as they were beaten 2-0 by rivals Everton at the Merseyside Derby match.

Jets’ Sanchez Hopes To Play Despite Knee Pain

October 27, 2010

Comments Off

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report. Based on comments from the quarterback and team officials, the prognosis sounds more optimistic than that.

Sanchez practiced on Thursday, and though he was seen stopping to stretch and rub his right knee on a few occasions didn’t seem to suffer any impairment in his mobility. He participated in the entire practice, and there didnt appear to be any sort of effort to prepare Kellen Clemens to assume the starting role. Clemens took his usual snaps with the team, though not any additional work that would indicate a concern that Sanchez wouldn’t be able to start.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan confirmed the injury while downplaying its significance:

“It’s not that big a deal. He has something. I don’t know how to describe it than just to say its a little tendinitis. But, he’s fine. I mean, he fully participated and moved around great, I thought.”

Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was even more emphatic in his statement:

“Mark’s totally fine.”

Ryan then added a sarcastic note that brought laughs from the assembled media: “Make sure he’s on that list. I don’t mean anything by that.”

Ryan was referring to the Jets receiving a fine from the NFL for not properly disclosing injuries to then-QB Brett Favre late last season. Favre was suffering from a torn biceps tendon, though the team didnt list him on the official NFL injury report. The team was fined $75,000 while GM Mike Tannenbaum and former coach Eric Mangini were each fined $25,000 each.

The Jets are less optimistic about the condition of cornerback Donald Strickland, who is suffering from a sprained right ankle. Ryan didnt offer much hope that hed be able to see action on Sunday:

“I don’t think he’s going to be able to play this week. I’m not declaring him out right now, but I don’t think there’s any way he’s playing this week.”

The Jets host the Tennessee Titans at the Meadowlands this Sunday afternoon. New York has been installed as a -1 home favorite, with the total set at 37. After that, the Jets will take to the road for their next two games. Theyll play the New Orleans Saints on October 4th before heading to south Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins the following Monday night.
