Maui Beaches

November 2, 2010

Comments Off

The Maui island is considered the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727.2 square miles and is the 17th biggest island in the US. Maui is part of the state of Hawaii and is the biggest of Maui County’s 4 islands.

With 120 miles of coastline, Maui features over 30 miles of amazing beaches. On these world famous shores you’ll discover white, black and red sand beaches, famous surfing and windsurfing destinations and also some of the best beaches in the world. The island of Maui is home to some of the most amazing beaches. Several beaches provide swimming all year long, while others are best for surfing or snorkelling during certain times of the year. The majority are simply reachable beach parks having lifeguards, picnic facilities and restrooms. Some are undeveloped, “hidden areas” located away from the beaten route. Regardless where you choose to stay, there are often a few famous beaches in close proximity.

West Maui beaches

If you travel along the western shoreline of Maui from Lahaina to Kapalua, you will discover a lot of wonderful beaches along the coast. Kaanapali Beach will offer you over 3 miles of white sand with a wide variety of watersports, which includes surfing, sailboating, as well as catamaran rides. On the north end of the beach is Black Rock, which is famous for snorkeling.

Tourists prefer the sandy beach at Napili Bay, since there are no high rise buildings around, and the bay is protected properly from waves. The Kapalua Resort in west Maui hosts Kapalua Beach, Oneloa Bay Beach, and the D.T. Fleming Beach.

South Maui Beaches

The rule with Hawaii and Maui is that the further south you go, the not so crowded the beaches will probably be. Kihei provides you with a number of beaches on the six mile shoreline, a few even providing lifeguards, restrooms, and picnic areas. Polo Beach and Wailea Beach offer both restrooms and equipment rentals. Or, if you need a much quieter beach, you must check out Maluaka Beach at the Maui Prince Hotel – where it’s also possible to encounter a few green sea turtles.

Several miles past the Maui Prince Hotel is the Big Beach of Makena that is among the finest beaches on Maui. As the name implies, the beach is pretty huge, and what’s even better – empty. There is white sand, picnic amenities, and also bathrooms.

East Maui Beaches

The beaches of East Maui are unlike others in Hawaii. Surrounded by lush landscapes, the beaches are quiet, beautiful, and extremely colorful. Hamoa Beach is really a must visit if you are planning to see East Maui. As you approach the beach from the main road, you will walk past colorful vegetation and palms surrounding Hamoa Beach. Just off Hana Highway is Hana Bay Beach, which offers black volcanic sand.

The Red Sand Beach is tough to go to, you’ll have to locate a small way along the coastline. The beach presents a lot of swimming and snorkeling, and you ought to be the only person there – which is great for those searching for solitude. Although it is challenging to get to, Red Sand Beach is truly exceptional.

In case you are planning to explore your own country or explore another country, Travel Agent LA will certainly help you with all the plannings. Liverpool FC Sell To Red Sox

October 29, 2010

Comments Off

The 300 million sale of Liverpool Football Club was finally completed this week as New England Sports Ventures (NESV) replaced former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette. NESV’s other ventures include Boston’s highly successful basketball team the Red Sox. All acquisition debts have been written off, significantly reducing the clubs debts from a total of 30 million a year to just 3 million.

The Royal Bank of Scotland had power over the club after Hicks and Gillette took out loans in 2007 to purchase the club. The future of Liverpool was cast into doubt as debts had to be repaid by 15 October. Despite the perilous situation before them the owners continually turned down bids that did not match their expected 800 million price tag.

They even placed a restraining order on the sale of the club after NESV’s attempts to purchase the club from RBS earlier in the year. It became clear to all involved that Gillette and Hicks were first and foremost concerned with their own finances rather than the long-term future of the club, and disagreements with members of the board began to arise. As the pair will only receive a small sum from the sale of the club, they have now taken it upon themselves to launch a $1.6 billion claim for compensation from the bank.

The new owner, John W. Henry, said that his primary focus was on “returning the Club to greatness on and off the field for the long-term”. NESV will examine a redevelopment of Liverpool FC’s current ground Anfield alongside proposals to move to a brand new stadium. Henry confirmed reassured Liverpool supporters that the new owners are “committed first and foremost to winning”.

However, Liverpool’s performance showed no signs of improving on Sunday as they were beaten 2-0 by rivals Everton at the Merseyside Derby match.

Why The UFC Doesn’t Matter In Japan, And How They Can Fix It

September 10, 2010

Comments Off

The UFC is of borderline relevance in Japan. This isn’t to disparage the UFC, which has done a great job growing MMA in North America and parts of Europe. It’s an effort to put Dana White’s claims of Zuffa’s inevitable worldwide dominance into perspective. Without traction in the #2 fightsport market in the world, UFC’s hopes for ‘world domination’ are doomed to failure.

Here are the three essential qualities for doing business in Japan, along with an analysis of what they mean to Zuffa’s efforts to build the UFC brand there:

Group Orientation/Collaboration: Japanese businessmen are notorious for sublimating their individual talents and personalities to the greater good of the group. Furthermore, Japanese business places a great emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. For US businesses seeking to enter the market, a certain degree of partnership with existing Japanese firms is almost de rigueur. MMA fans can see the biggest problem Zuffa may face from a mile away–their reticence to enter into co-promotional agreements. While their public disdain for co-promotion was a major sticking point in their negotiations with Fedor Emelianenko, it may very well be a case that they didn’t want to do business with M-1 Global. To a certain extent, its difficult to blame them. On the other hand, the UFC worked with Germany’s largest concert promoter (MLK) to enter that market with a fair degree of success. They’d be well advised to seek some sort of a partnership similar to their German initiative to help smooth their way into the Japanese market.

Hierarchy: Japanese business and, for that matter, Japanese culture, is almost ridiculously hierarchical. The societal reverence for age, experience and accomplishment in Japan is well known, and that’s often a difficult concept for American companies and businessmen to grasp. Much of the reason for this is the relative openness of US culture, particularly as it relates to business. US businesses love mavericks and Horatio Alger stories. That accounts for much of the business media’s fascination with Dana White and they’re quick to celebrate how a former aerobics instructor is now the most powerful man in MMA and the driving force of a billion dollar company. That storyline doesn’t play as well in Japan, however. One approach would be for White to take a back seat in UFC efforts to promote in Japan in favor of Lorenzo Fertitta–who has much more conventional business experience from his time in the casino industry–and perhaps Marc Ratner, widely respected for his time at the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Respect: Even among seedy elements like fight promoters–and even the underworld–respect in business dealings is essential in Japan. In a typical Japanese business deal, the first few meetings aren’t intended for any substantive decision making to take place. Instead, they’re used for evaluation of your professionalism or, as the Japanese like to put it, to determine your suitability for conducting business with. Considering that Dana Whites first introduction to the PRIDE staff and to the Japanese fight public was a press conference where he made the statement–more in reference to the proposed bouts between UFC and PRIDE fighters than anything else–”We’re going to kick your ass.” At that moment, PRIDE as a promotion died. The people that worked for PRIDE had no interest in helping White profit from the promotion. More significantly, he became little more than a clown to the Japanese public–like “Money From Government Grants” shill Mathew Lesko without the funny suit. To succeed in Japan, the UFC must realize that they’re not considered a major fight promotion in that country. They must understand that they’ve got to win over a skeptical public, but before that they have to win over a skeptical Japanese business community.

Dana White’s fanciful stories about corrupt promoters and Yakzua gangsters out of Quentin Tarantino movies might amuse his sycophants in the MMA media, but countless US companies including fight promotions have done business successfully and profitably in Japan. The UFC might be able to convince the clueless US media that they’re making progress in Japan due to a deal on a low profile TV network or, more recently a big ad campaign on a Japanese social networking site, but they’re currently spinning their wheels and going nowhere. The only way that Zuffa will be able to become a factor in the worlds #2 MMA market is to do what every other company has done to be successful there–learn how to understand the Japanese approach to doing business, and play by their rules.

Colts’ QB Manning To Get Record Contract Extension

August 24, 2010

Comments Off

In what has to be one of the least difficult front office personnel decisions in sports history, Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay has confirmed that the team will sign quarterback Peyton Manning to a contract extension that could make him the highest paid player in NFL history. Manning’s current deal will expire after the end of the 2010 season, with the final two years having been voided due to his meeting a number of performance based criteria. The decision was made before the Colts’ Superbowl loss to the New Orleans Saints.

You can tell that an owner is adamant about resigning a player when he tells the media that he wants to make him the highest paid player in league history, and Irsay did just that:

“You know it’s going to get done. I think it’s clear, and we’ll start on it this summer. That’s been the way we do things [to hammer out an extension when a player is entering the final year of his contract]. And it’ll be the biggest [contract] in history; there’s not much doubt about that.”

Not exactly the most advantageous negotiating position to make public that you’re committed to breaking the bank to resign a player. Then again, it’s not like Manning is a quarterback that can easily be replaced as Irsay emphasized:

“It simply comes to one question, and that’s replaceability. Everything is based on the replaceability factor. You make decisions based on who you can afford to target and keep. … Other guys you really want to [re-sign] you might have trouble doing it, because of what it costs you, and how much attention they’re getting [from other teams in free agency]. We don’t have that luxury and we’ve had to work hard.”

Manning’s agent, Tom Condon, has already had preliminary discussions with the Colts’ management about a new deal. Condon also represent’s Peyton’s brother Eli Manning, and negotiated a $97.5 million contract extension from the New York Giants for him last year. Peyton’s contract will almost certainly exceed those figures, with some speculating that he could receive $20 million per year with a $50 million signing bonus up front.

Rio Beats Out Chicago, Two Other Cities To Claim 2016 Summer Olympics

August 5, 2010

Comments Off

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barack Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points. The Brazilian leader stressed the unfairness that South America had never hosted the games in his speech to the committee;

“It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.”

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The’96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal. Some suggested that US President Obama’s quick and perfunctory visit was taken as more of an insult by the delegates than anything else.

Top Five Team Building Events

July 18, 2010

Comments Off

Studies have shown that team building or reward days motivate staff, bring teams closer together and create a happier more productive work force, but it can be hard to choose something that suits everyone in your business. So here are my top five ideas to make your team building day go with a bang.

First up is that old classic, orienteering. Taking your team out in the middle of nowhere and leaving them there may sound a little harsh, but orienteering means they have to get along and work together, and if you split the staff into teams it also appeals to people’s competitive edge. You really get to see the ‘real’ versions of people and if you reward everyone with a bbq or pub dinner once they make their way back to base, then they’ll love you too!

If your workforce needs to laugh together more, then nothing will give them a good giggle like taking part in an ‘It’s a knock out’ contest . You could go for a full day tournament with gladiator podium fights, blow up apparatus, water slides and silly costumes, or just choose a couple of activities. Round the day off with a BBQ or buffet and by hometime your team will be best of friends.

If your team would prefer a more sophisticated reward day, then cocktail making would be a great choice. These sessions are offered by bars all over the country, your group will be able to make their own classic cocktails, taste a range of creations and learn about the history of cocktails and what makes the perfect blend. Informal activities like this usually appeal to most team members, and often means people mix with colleagues they have never even spoken to before.

Another more leisurely way spend a corporate reward day is with a day at the races. What could be more fun than getting your fanciest summer outfit on, having a few drinks and heading to Aintree Ascot or York. You could go all out and book a private box for your team, or if they’re a more informal bunch head to the open course, with a deluxe picnic and some deck chairs. A little flutter or two will add even more excitement to the day, but even the none gamblers will enjoy the people watching, glamour and bubbly!

Last but not least is a good old quiz night. Quiz nights are cheap to organise and are something everyone can take part in, so hire a function room and do your own, or go to one at your local pub. You could even make it a regular thing to continue the staff integration for weeks to come.

Chester makes a great corporate destination and whether you are looking to booksome team building in Cheshire or have decided to organise some corporate entertainment in the North West, there will be something in the Cheshire area for you.

Set between the Purcell Mountains and the Rockies, the town of Kimberley boasts stunning views and attracts tourists from around the world. Visit the golfing capital of Canada and you might find not just eighteen holes, but even to a real estate agent. If not, just be happy with improving your game.

Golf courses here include Bootleg Gap. This twenty-seven hole course hires out pull carts and clubs if you travelled light. Look for junior rates and play a round with your teenager, or just use the driving range for some practice. Kimberley Golf Club dates back to the early twentieth century and continues to thrive among the competition. Find yourself some gear in the pro shop then stop for a meal after your game.

Shadow Mountain is the newest golf course in Kimberley. Enjoy eighteen holes or nine, with short breaks in between each hole to simply admire snow-capped mountains and lush green mountain forests. The gift shop sells clothing for men and women plus accessories and souvenirs. Arrange for group or private lessons with a certified instructor. Golfing classes have been broken down according to age, with some also set aside for ladies only. Even send the kids to golf camp so they can develop a passion for this popular activity.

With a visit to St. Eugene Mission comes the opportunity to play golf by day and hit the casino at night. Instead of worrying about how to get back to your hotel room after a few drinks and some slots, stay right at St. Eugene. Arrive with a group and split up, some heading for tee time, others to a local spa. Eat out in style or opt for a casual barbecued steak at the on-site restaurant.

Golfing packages make it easy to spend the weekend golfing and hanging out. Stay in a chalet, condo or guest house. Bring a big group of eight to twelve people and split the cost, saving money to enjoy what you came for: eighteen holes. Some rentals include barbecues, hot tubs or even a fireplace.

Trickle Creek Golf Resort offers stay and play packages including a round on their green plus a room a the Lodge. Eat at the lodge restaurant then walk to golfing just minutes away. Come back to soak in a hot tub, swim a few lengths in their heated outdoor pool or burn calories in the fitness room.

Trickle Creek also sets families down right by ski hills, which could get them thinking. What about moving here? Perhaps compromise, laying down just holiday roots. Purchase property in the area for those gaps in a busy calendar that let you get away to golf or ski, alone, with friends or with family.

Should such a plan become viable, remember this is a high end location. BC Real estate can be scarce and expensive in Kimberley, but conveniently close to a local airport for commuting to and from Calgary and other cities. Purchase yourself a fabulous view and plant yourself close to places like Wasa Lake, Radium Hot Springs, and the Canadian Rockies.

It’s not surprising that BC is considered Canada’s golf capital. BC golf vacations are attracting golfers from all over the world, With the beautiful mountains and picturesque natural scenery, take time to enjoy the magnificent BC real estate.

The Dangers Of Adult Dating Services

July 2, 2010

Comments Off

Have you ever visited a web site providing adult dating services? As a rule, these sites have really bold advertisements. They boast of hundreds of thousands of members and publish success stories and testimonials. However while adult dating can be fun and thrilling, there are risks that these web sites do not include.

Before you decide to engage in their services, here are some issues to note. After we deal with this sort of website or online dating service, we don,t mean the regular dating service. The phrase “adult” signifies that you wish to pursue an extra, even sexual, relationship with somebody. This makes it completely different from the regular dating service that we know. That is why whenever you determine to take part from this web site, do not anticipate a pleasant informal date. More often than not, the individual from the opposite side expects something more. That is why it is important to watch out in giving out personal particulars about you, your work or residence. Only when you’ve gotten belief between one another can you exchange details.

Never give particulars to someone you barely know. Also, do not give out data when you see that the other person seems to avoid answering personal questions. Should you resolve to meet in person, do this in a safe public place. Never invite him home for dinner in the very first meeting. Whilst you might believe the individual to be a gentleman, it’s still unwise for you to take him to your house that soon. For all you know, he may be an ex convict, a rapist, or a serial killer. Inform a buddy of your about your plans beforehand – where and when you’ll meet, your date’s identify, and others.

Be careful of dates who ask for money. He or she may come up with stories about some financial difficulty. Because you’ve somehow developed a more intimate relationship with the person, you believe everything that he or she says, and end up giving him or her some money. Or she can reside in another state, and asks that you send her some money for a plane or bus ticket. Because you start to have some feelings for the person and would want to see her badly, you send her money for the tickets. Only that she never comes

If you want to have some adult fun, then adult dating companies are for you. There are various websites present on internet that you can choose from. But earlier than becoming a member of any of those websites or deciding to join it, be cautious at all times. See for suggestions from former members. Portland Trailblazers, Brandon Roy Agree To Contract Extension

July 1, 2010

Comments Off

After extensive negotiations, the Portland Trailblazers have signed All Star shooting guard Brandon Roy to a five year contract extension. Roy will be in the final year of his rookie contract in the 2009-2010 NBA season, and securing the services of a player that did no less than turn around the franchise was the teams top summer priority.

Brandon Roy may have saved the Portland NBA franchise thanks to his on-court talent and off the court class. The Blazers slumped from their glory years of the 1970′s and 1980′s as the 1990′s progressed, eventually pulling together a roster consisting of character challenged reprobates that earned the moniker JailBlazers for their frequent legal transgressions.

With the Blazers fans staying away from the arena in droves, owner Paul Allen finally had enough and cleaned house. The new management was given the challenge to put together a roster that would not only win games, but win back the Rose City fans. The acquisition of Roy will likely be looked at as the turning point for this effort. The Blazers acquired Roy on draft day 2006 for Randy Foye, and would go on to win the NBAs rookie of the year award.

Since that point, Roy has become the face of the franchise. Roy has become the centerpiece of a talented young team had has not only become a force in the NBAs Western Conference but has gone a long way to winning back the Portland fan base. The current crop of Blazers is more likely to be found in the aisles at Home Depot or at Starbucks than in the police blotter, and the team seldom puts forth a substandard effort on the court.

Roy will earn $4 million dollars in the last year of his rookie season, after which his five year $82 million dollar contract will kick in. The first four years are guaranteed, while the fifth is at the players option. Roys agent Bob Myers strongly suggested that Roy wanted to remain with the Blazers for his entire career, noting that he “is one of the unique players to have a chance to have that sort of relationship with one team.”

The team will now turn its attention to signing a long term deal with forward LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge is also in the final year of his rookie contract and a key component to the teams recent success. At last report, talks between the two sides are progressing.
