There are four things you need to watch out for as you shop around for a vertical leap training program. If you are serious about making gains in your vertical leap, you’ll definitely want to avoid these four no-no’s. The market is filled with programs that may in turn be filled with erroneous information.
If a vertical leap training program informs you to take a very few, simple exercises, and then just perform them longer periods, then it’s a lie. For example, if you read that only jumping rope and calf stretches are included, don’t bother.
Many of the so-called “vertical leap training programs” will have you believe that if you perform a couple of overly simple exercises, and merely increase your workout time each week, you’ll gain height in your vertical jump. Something to the effect of, “Jump rope for 5 minutes this week, next week make it 7 minutesetc.” This is great if you want to build stamina, but not a vertical jump.
Another warning sign to watch out for in any vertical leap training program-a ridiculously increasing number of repetitions and sets. Seriously, how can you be expected to live in a gym? How long do you think you’ll be doing 22 sets of 80 reps, anyway? The fact of the matter is that the most gains you receive from reps and sets comes from the first set. Can you taste the bile rising in your throat yet as you consider these scammers?
Another no-no, besides the repetition of repetitions, and sets of sets, is to watch out when you’re told to work out every day. The way muscles are built, this will actually set you back in gaining mass, since muscles require time to recover. When you exercise, you tear down muscle tissue. Your body repairs these muscles after a strenuous workout by adding more muscle for next time. This cycle is necessary to gain muscle, give it a rest every other day per muscle group.
Personalize every vertical leap training program if you want to get custom results. The human body is not a glove or ball cap. You’re unique! You need to listen to your body, and listen when it’s saying to increase the challenge and when to rest. Know your limitations, challenge yourself, and change things up accordingly.
