The Greatness Of Funny Golf T-Shirts

August 11, 2011

Comments Off

When I step onto the green, I get the same feelings I got when I did the first time. Am I going to do well? Do I belong here? Should I be wearing funny golf t-shirts? The answers are always the same, really. I will do better than I did last time; I most certainly belong here; and I will wear whatever I darn well please. This is a game that has been dominated by upper-crust snobs for years. The common man is slowly taking it over, because that is what we do best. This is America, and exclusionism is not our way.

Those feelings of inadequacy are all the fault of the media. Film, in general, has shown the sport of golf to be highly exclusionary and aloof from the common folks. Middle class people, like my father and I, have historically not been welcomed with open arms onto private courses because of this image that media has portrayed of golf. Life imitates art, and it just became ingrained in everyone’s mind that people in funny golf t-shirts shouldn’t be playing the game. Well, I will go on record right now and tell you that this is most surely an untruth.

While not really prone to wearing funny golf t-shirts, Tiger Woods has been a huge inspiration for the common golfer. He was a child prodigy that came from roots that include a Vietnam war veteran golf enthusiast. He was a true golf hero for millions, and everyone knows his name and will associate him with golf forever. I had actually stopped playing since college, and it was his great triumphs that caused me to stir and desire to play again.

Golf is genuinely a game for gentlemen, despite the fact that idiots like me who wear funny golf t-shirts love the game anyway. I make jokes, but golf has taught me much about life outside of the game. It has taught me to treat others with respect, and that what they are doing in their game (or life), is just as important as anything I am doing. It has taught me to be patient with myself and to know that skill will come with much practice. Above all, golf has shown me that it is okay to have tiny balls, as long as you are swinging a long club.

There are many things that I take for granted in my life, but golf will never be one of them. I cannot go out to a course every weekend, but I rejoice in the moments that I have. Every swing takes me back to me dear father showing me over and over, with patience and love, how to perfect my form. I am a good man, but golf has made me better than I ever would have been without it. I am a golfer, and I have the funny golf t-shirts to prove it.

If you are curious about funny golf t-shirts you can visit funny golf t-shirt where you can sample the ordering process.

I Want To Become A More Consistent Golfer – But How?

Want a more consistent pitch with your golf ball? What about getting solid hits with your 6 iron all the time? What about changes in your score? What can make you shoot 82 on one day, then 96 on another?

Sadly, striking the golf ball solid will not always mean lower and more consistent scores.

There are two aspects of consistency on the golf course: ball striking and course management.

To be consistent during your game, come up with a single thought that you’re going to think about the whole game. Continuously think about this single thought the whole time you go for a round of golf. Think about this thought during every shot. Focus on it, rather than reacting to your shots. Maintain this thought for weeks, months, or even through a season.

One golfer who practices this is the prominent PGA Tour player, Ernie Els. He thinks about tempo throughout his round, and he thinks of nothing else.

There are some people who like to think of mechanical swing thoughts. They could either think about adding a bit of shoulder turn in a back swing, keeping the right knee a bit flexed, or even getting the club face to be a little more square up on top.

Whatever the swing thought may be, you are being proactive by having a key thought rather than being reactive when you hit a little bit of a fade into the woods. A reactive approach would have you attempt to fix your slice. Instead, be proactive and continue to use the same swing thought that you had when you hit many great shots before.

Whatever your swing thought may be, decide what it is before you step on the first tee and use it throughout the round. This will help you be more consistent on the golf course.

So how do you increase the consistency of your ball striking? One trick is to maintain the angles of your body. Having consistency in your angles will help you have more solid shots. This would mean that your posture, hip flex, and the height of your chest stays the same throughout the whole swing.

Essentially what’s going on when you maintain your body angles is you allow the club to bottom out on the same spot repeatedly. Concentrate on maintaining the height of your chest throughout the golf swing. Being aware of your chest will ensure that you don’t stand up or drop down during your swing. Maintain the height of your chest and the result will be more consistent shots.

To bring this to a close, improving your consistency during your game of golf happens when you take note of these two points:

1. Committing to a single swing thought and a thought process starting on the first tee that will help you be proactive not reactive.

2. Keep your body angles at a similar position throughout your whole swing. Remember to keep your chest height at the same level from the back swing, to the impact, and finally to the follow through.

Good Tips – Improve Your Golf Game With Serenity

Zen to improve your golf game may sound ridiculous, but for many it has brought a peace of mind to their game that has giving them the edge on the competition. Zen is a method that has been applied to everything from water sports to mountain bike racing and its time proven methods have brought success to many athletes. Zen and golf have had a partnership for many decades now and will continue to do so for years to come. Many golfers may use only the increased focus, many others will blend this with some other techniques such as a deep tissue massage therapy with a thumper massager or with a professional meditation treatment method.

Zen and the sport was introduced around 1980. Golfers were looking for new ways to beat the new and harder courses and they were not finding it with conventional teachings. It was an elderly Zen Master that first showed Arnold Palmer the mysteries of Zen and golf.

Zen is the art of keeping the mind calm through repeating calming words and keeping a positive image in the mind. In this sport, the image that should be used is where the ball will land when you hit it. It goes so much deeper though. Instead of just where the ball will land, but think of every move that is required to hit the ball. Hitting the ball can require a lot of steps and if you focus on each one, then you will be able to see what you are doing wrong, should you be doing anything wrong at all.

Many golfers have found this technique to work. It forces them to consider every slight movement that is made in the swing and in the contact. As one reviews their moves as they are happening, it shows them the error in any calculation or performance.

There are still classes that offer this technique to new golfers. They are fewer and far between, but some old masters are willing to teach these techniques. Many different schools of thought on golf training exist, but the most widely known for many years was this technique.

Zen and sports have appeared in many books and television programs. While there is not as big a following as there use to be, there are still some websites available to give tips on how to use the philosophy to develop stronger skills in sports. Though it is still around, it has changed in many ways from its early days.

Meditation gardens were introduced to the courses across the country and golfers were able to relax and concentrate better on the sport. Their focus was centered in these gardens and more and more courses began to add them. There were some religious issues that some courses had with the gardens so a lot of courses decided to not include the gardens.

If your goal is to improve your golf game then consider Zen. It is one of the most recognized ways in which a golfer can find their errors, correct them and overall, redefine the way that they play. There are a lot of methods that can be taught to hone a swing or a putt and Zen happens to be the one with the best results. One of the most famous golf instructors, Brent H. Davis, incorporates many of the teachings of Zen in his instructions. He has found that by showing a golfer the way of Zen, he is better able to get the instructions on putting through the mind of the student.

Gretchen Robertvine contributes articles on a wide range of subjects to take capabilities to a higher level. She regularly relaxes by using a thumper mini pro 2 massager together with additional techniques.

Get a More True Golf Swing with Massage Therapy

Your golf swing is everything to having a good golf game. Your swing involves the coordination of many different muscle groups in tandem. If any of them are off, then so is your swing and the ball will be off the mark. Proper warm up before playing a round helps get your muscles groups working together. This may include stretching, calisthenics and massage therapy. It is vital to get your body prepared properly for the physical activity of swinging your clubs. Massage therapy delivered with a massage chair is an effective way to get your body and muscles loosened up for your next round of golf.

When you swing your club, stress is put on the shoulders, elbows, wrists, lower back, hips and knees. If you have pain or discomfort in one of these areas, then it can really throw off your swing. When we have an ache, we tend to try to not put stress on that area to make it worse. This means we may unintentionally cause our swing to deviate from its desired course. A thorough warm up helps to loosen these tight areas and help to enhance your swing.

The regions that need proper stretching are your shoulders, arms, back, hips and legs. Develop and sustain a stretching routine prior to playing. Make sure you hit all the above listed areas. Calisthenics are another important element to add to your routine. Walking also helps you get your body ready. Using a massage chair to loosen up tight muscles and tendons helps your muscles in addition to stretching.

Massage chair recliners include the most effective massage therapies such as Shiatsu, Swedish, Sports and Deep Tissue massages. You have many controls to pinpoint exactly where you need the most attention. Pre-game massages can increase the circulation of blood and lymph, loosen sore or tight muscles and even increase your mental awareness. Professional athletes use massage therapy to give them an edge and perform at their best. When getting a massage, be sure to drink a cup of water for proper hydration.

Most golfers that I have met, complain about lower back pain. This is an especially important area for your golf swing. In fact, this is the pivot point of your swing. Your swing puts a lot of stress on this area as you follow through on your swing. Since you are doing this over and over throughout the day, you may start to experience some aching or discomfort. Getting a proper and adequate warm up is critical to easing this particular stress point. You want to stretch out the back, legs and hips. The application of heat is also beneficial. You may want to get some deeper tissue bodywork in the lower lumber to help you out.

In order to play golf successfully over the long term, you must take positive steps to avoid injury. What are some of the most common causes of golf injury? They can be over-swinging, twisting during your swing, poor swing mechanics and too little warm up. The golf swing is where most golf injuries occur. If you swing too hard or do not warm up correctly, then you can hurt your back, shoulder, wrist, and other areas. You can reduce this risk by integrating an adequate warm up before your game. However, you must also be aware of your limits and do not over-extend yourself unwisely.

Your golf game can really be improved with massage therapy as part of the warm up. Of course, warming down is also important. If you are playing a few times a week, then it is really important to establish a warm up routine. This way you make sure that all of your muscle groups are adequately prepared for the physical exertion. Most people think of getting a massage when the experience soreness or discomfort. Unfortunately, this is trying to fix the symptom rather than the cause. Massage has many benefits and can help improve your game and your golf attitude. The most convenient and economical way to add massage to your game is with a massage chair recliner. If your swing is on, then life is good. When your swing is off, well then you will need a lot of Mulligans.

Do you need to reduce vital strokes off your golf game? If so then take a serious look at getting a proper warm up. Omega Massage Chairs are an excellent choice for invigoration. Or check out Sanyo Massage Chairs for a relieving back massage. Massage Chairs are a critical resource in helping you perfect your golf game.

Golfing in Northern California: The Seven Best Courses

June 14, 2011

Comments Off

Northern California houses some of the best golf courses in the world. This is more the case than anything in the Monterey Peninsula, which happens to boast four of the top seven golf courses in the upper part of the state. While some of the courses might be pretty pricey, like Pebble Beach and Spyglass, others are very reasonably priced for the average golfer. All-in-all, the courses placed in the next few paragraphs are places that you need to get out to at some stage in your life.

While making this decision isn’t absolute and can vary based upon personal preference, I believe the selection below encompass what every golfer deems “the perfect course.” So, without further ado, the following is my selection of the top golf courses in northern California:

1. Pebble Beach Golf Links – Pebble Beach, CA

The iconic Pebble Beach isn’t just considered to be one of the greatest destinations to golf in all of California, but also as one of the best courses to play in the world. In fact, it had been the first public course chosen as the #1 course in the world by Golf Digest. The majestic course sits directly on the shore and gives breathtaking views of Carmel Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Designed in 1919 by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, Pebble Beach has hosted the U.S. Open 5 different times in 1972, 1982, 1992, 2000 and 2010.

2. Spyglass Hill Golf Course – Pebble Beach, CA

Spyglass, nicknamed “the Glass,” was designed by the well-known Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in 1966 and has stunning views of the Pacific Ocean on its initial 5 holes. This is the second of four courses on this list on the Moneterey Peninsual.

The course is so widely recognized for its superb style and design and beauty, that Golf Digest ranked it 5th on “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.” Spyglass is also amongst the courses in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am rotation.

3. Poppy Hills – Pebble Beach, CA

This tree-lined golf course is the third course listed in my choice of the seven best golf courses in northern California found in the Pebble Beach region. Although it doesn’t have the ocean views of some of it’s Monterey Peninsual cousins, it’s tree-lined fairways set the scene for this remarkably constructed course.

With it’s large number of dog-leg fairways, Poppy Hills was graded among the finest courses in northern California as well as in the top 20 courses in all of California.

4. Coyote Creek Golf Club – San Jose, CA

The Coyote Creek Golf Club is the only Jack Nicklaus signature golf course within the bay area and it is the most popular spot to play for all of the area sports celebrities from teams like the 49′ers and Giants. Its immaculate design and superb layout was acknowledged in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” and was presented with a rating of 4.5 stars.

5. TPC Harding – San Francisco, CA

After a very long stint of not being a major course and some necessary redevelopment, TPC Harding is yet again a PGA Tour Tournament Players Club course. Harding Park is the most recognized golfing location within the San Francisco city limits and is very affordable to San Francisco and Bay Area inhabitants.

The course was opened up in 1925 and was home to the 2009 Presidential Cup and the 2010/2011 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

6. Winchester Country Club – Meadow Vista, CA

Hidden in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s in Meadow Vista, this exlcusive Championship northern California golf course was the very last course made by the prominent father-son duo of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. The course was considered to be The Best Residential Golf Course in America by Golf Weekly.

7. Monterey Pines Golf Course – Monterey, CA

The last choice in my list of the seven best golf courses in northern California is also the 4th course based in the Monterey area. Monterey Pines was initially intended as a 9-hole course by Robert Muir Graves in 1963. The back 9 was added in 1972 and the course was newly designed in 2009 by Marc Messier.

Nicknamed the “Navy Course,” Monterey Pines is taken care of and managed by the Navy Golf Program. This course is the excellent golfing destination for beginning golfers and experienced golfers alike. It is hard enough to work on your game and enjoyable enough to enjoy a full round of 18.

There are many excellent golfing opportunities in northern California, and the above mentioned are some of the finest. Whether you’re a dedicated golfer, or somebody that just loves getting out there and hitting the links, these courses provide a wonderful experience.

3 Important Factors for Playing Better Golf

May 24, 2011

Comments Off

Golf is one of those games that can be a lot of fun and frustration – sometimes at the same time. It’s all wonderful once you master the game but getting there is a slow process that can be extremely frustrating. Don’t give up though; make these changes in the way you play your game instead.

Making sure you have the proper gear is the first step to becoming a “real” golfer. This includes everything including clothes and balls. Balls come in two main types: two-piece or three-piece. Beginning golfers are better off using two-piece balls and three-piece balls are a good choice for more advanced players. You must take the time to master the game so that you can move on to the next type of ball. The thing to remember with clothing is that you must be wearing clothes that do not interfere with your swing. Wearing a tight fitting jacket, for example, will interfere with your ability to make beautiful drives that seem to go on forever.

The easiest approach to learning or improving your golf game is to hire a professional instructor. Since you are spending good money for his time, you really should take advantage of using your instructor.

This means that you need to stop being shy and speak up. If something does not make sense to you, then advise the instructor. You shouldn’t be afraid to tell them what your goals are and what problems you have been having. Also, do your best to stay calm. This is because if you are jumpy, you will swing to quickly and you will not be able to pay attention. You have to focus on the game and on the instructor, or you are wasting valuable time without learning anything.

When you first begin to play golf, you have a few decisions to make. You can learn a lot from your friends, which is how a lot of people first begin. However, the problem is that you might develop some bad habits that will affect your swing, because no matter how good your friends are at golf, that doesn’t mean they are great teachers. Also, you can just go to range and hit a few balls until you determine how your swings rate in terms of direction and distance. This approach to learning the game, though, can take quite some time because it’s a matter of trial and error. The easiest way to learn golf is to get professional lessons, which is also the fastest. Additionally, you will be able to avoid unnecessary frustration later on because you won’t have a chance to develop bad habits. The instructor will make sure to correct your technique.

As you can tell, there are some important aspects that can help you improve your golf game, but they don’t have anything to do with playing the game itself. However, without a strong foundation to build upon your skills, you will not have a good chance to improve your game. So, get the basics correct and you will be ahead of the game and make other golfers jealous.

The best way to hit a Sand Wedge

May 7, 2011

Comments Off

In the game of golf, golfers are obligated to have a fast analysis on the environment that might affect their shots. Golfers must be aware to where the wind is coming and how intense can the wind have an effect on the ball. They must also learn to hit the ball taking into consideration the conditions of the field. Accuracy and precision is essential to make sure that the ball is in direction of the hole and not opposed to it. As a player, you must recognize the several traps that can be found in the golf course. People who are new in the field are having a difficult time hitting the ball in the sand bunkers. The ball is definitely really difficult to hit and the area are often muddy. Even Skilled Golf players are having a tough time hitting the ball in this area, so never be disappointed if it did not go well.

Sand Wedge is best for full shots. Take notice of the angle in the golf club head or the loft. A person also needs to consider the bounce which is the distance in between the wedge?s leading edge and the ground. The farther the bounce to the ground, the bounce will probably be higher. These types of wedges increases backspin that makes the ball stops easily when it actually gets to the green. If you like to get the greatest bounce, you must put all effort to hit the ball with the heel of the golf club.

Staying concentrated on the game is essential. You should think positively. Find out if the sand is too soft or too compact, by doing this, you’ll be able to modify your shot. If the sand is too soft, use a wide lip wedge. If the sand is compact, pick a wedge with minimal bounce.

Keeping your balance is necessary, in fact, a person need a lot of it when golfing. As much as possible, weight needs to be equally distributed in both feet. Rehearse your stance. Your back ought to be straight prior to backswing. It is very beneficial to dig your feet into the sand at about one fourth of an inch making it stable. If you are worried about its legitimacy, it is really not a violation.

Position the golf ball about 2-3 inches when in front of your center. Open your stance and clubface at approximately 30 degrees. Before you do your backswing, cock the ball to get a sharp angle. When you hit the ball, remember to follow-through. Now that you figure out how to hit the ball in the sand bunker, you need to practice it. Knowing the sort of sand bunker in the golf course will help you create the right decision on how to hit a sand wedge.

Experience Cancun Golf During Spring Break

April 21, 2011

Comments Off

It can be a bit ironic when you consider that each and every year, young people head to Cancun to enjoy Spring Break. Of course, much of the time they are involved in so much frantic partying that they come back rather worn out. This is not the way it needs to be, though. The truth is, there are many of activities such as Mexico golf that you can enjoy that are actually relaxing and low key. If you want to discover how you can have a chill time in Cancun, please read on.

One of the things you should do before getting here is educate yourself a bit on what all there is to do in Cancun besides partying. The city is currently showing itself off as being a family vacation spot, also, so you will find there are more calm things to do which will refresh you. Spas can be an excellent idea, but Cancun golf can be a leisurely way to spend the afternoon, too. In addition to the obvious beach time you can enjoy, remember that as Cozumel blog recently noted (http://cozumelblog.com/blog/2011/04/07/international-travel-tips-for-a-cancun-vacation/), you can also delight in magnificent local parks that preserve the native ecology here. Observing nature is another great way to relax.

You’ll want to keep the culture here in mind, as well. All fashion is not generally appreciated on the golf course. While Yucatan peninsula resorts like maya golf courses are generally casual, you want to avoid loud and showy clothing that would be best suited in a club. Also, tipping is usually proper in this area as in an All About Cancun post (http://allaboutcancun.com/about-cancun/travel-tips/) explains. You may not always have to tip your cab driver, however room service along with other service people do expect a little something even if it is not cash. Asking your hotel desk person can frequently reveal this kind of information for you.

Of course, the golf courses throughout Cancun do stand out as amazing ways to unwind. You are able to recuperate a bit from any partying you might do of course, if you do not feel like having to hang out with a large group as you should do at night time in the city, then it may be smart to get out on the green and get in some of that amazing Yucatan sunshine. This provides you some physical activity while still being a calm way to relax, too.

In the event you plan to enjoy Cancun area golf activities such as playa golf courses, you may want to set things up in advance. The resort you are staying at may have a tournament organized and if so you will be far better off knowing ahead of time. A little planning will go a long way down here.

Martin Rolee is an avid golfer and in addition a travel author who spends his days writing reviews of a few of the paramount Riviera maya golf courses and vacation destinations in the Yucatan peninsula.
